Mission Statement
The Northwest Film School is dedicated to cultivating creative talent
through a balanced education in the academic, technical and professional
aspects of filmmaking. Background
In recent years, a film community has been developing in the Northwest that has
been bringing filmmakers together to network and showcase their work. Although
a high level of interest in film and filmmaking already existed in the region,
but despite the high level of enthusiasm and creativity, there are few
opportunities to learn and practice the craft.
This lack of opportunity either prevents local talent from ever shining or
pushes it away from the Northwest. The Northwest Film School was created to
fill this need, providing an educational program to serve as the cornerstone of
a vibrant film community.
Philosophy
The Northwest Film School emphasizes a hands-on, practical education in
filmmaking while adhering to high standards of excellence in quality and
content. Although classes will cover the technical and academic aspects of film
and filmmaking, the overall philosophy of the school is to provide students
with the training, knowledge, resources and the structured learning environment
to produce high quality creative works.
